Please bear with me, I'll try to be succinct without rambling. My name is Chris. I am a 27 years old from Eugene, Oregon. I was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome back in 1999, along with suffering from depression for many years. It explained alot, after years of thinking I was doing things wrong. It may not surprise anyone, but I was diagnosed with either ADD or ADHD (can't remember which) in elementary school and was on Ritalin. I'm currently on a few medications, and everything changes daily so it would be impossible to describe right now. I don't have any friends, never had a girlfriend, and I work full time as a janitor. I work by myself which limits me socially and I work at night. Every month I've attended a group here locally for people with Aspergers, which has been the only social interaction I've had. I've drawn since I was 6 and continue to do so. All throughout school I was known as the kid that draws, and that's how people knew me. And since high school, I've also been writing. And now I do both alternately. I love music and film and have an extensive knowledge of both. I'm very shy and keep to myself most of the time, but I work on it daily. I came across this website through a search and am glad I found it. I'd love to make friends with other people who understand. That's pretty much it. If anyone has any questions or comments, feel free to ask. I'll try and respond as soon as possible. I look forward to meeting all of you. Take care. :-)

This is somewhere that I like to go, but in my town we don't have that.

Hey, Chris.
Welcome to WP. Maybe you'll post some pictures or something in the pictures forum...I mean your drawings, not personal pictures. And what kind of stuff do you write?

At first I didn't see how WA - Western Australia was relevent, but then realised WA = Washington. Walla Walla is a also an Australian town. Its an abadiginal word. In aboriginal language, a word is repeated to make a plural. Walla = rain. Walla Walla = lots of rain.

So in Indian language, does Walla mean water? Conincidence?

I lost what I was gonna post the first time, so let me try again. I want to thank everyone for the warm welcome. I really appreciate it. I would love to post some of my drawings. If someone could direct me to where I should post them, I will do so. But please be kind when commenting. LOL. I write short stories mostly, but sometimes when I feel the mood come on, I write some poetry. But I am not that good at it, and the poems I write are very personal and I don't show them to anybody. They are very literal and honest. Maybe if I trust someone Ill show them. And I have some skill playing the drums, but I do not have the time or space to do so. When I was in between jobs a few years ago, I jammed with a friend and it was great. And I'd love to do it again. As with my drawing and writing, I taught myself how to play the drums. I never got any lessons or took any classes. Just self taught. I have two questions for everyone out there. First one: Does anyone out there have any suggestions on how to make friends and meet people while dealing with Aspergers? When I go out, I feel the need to hide how I really am, hide my quirks and faults. It gets exhausting, but I feel the need to do it. Second one: Anyone know if it's better to have a relationship with someone who has Aspergers compared to someone who doesn't? And how should I go about meeting someone besides using the traditional routes? Again I'd like to thank everyone for the warm welcome and I hope someone out there can help me with my questions. Take care and I'll be back later.
