Hi! I'm Kiara. I'm not sure I have AS, there's a pretty good chance that I don't, but I do have an AQ of 35, so either way, I'm kinda excited about joining WP. I poked around for a couple days, still not sure if I should join (forums haven't gone well in the past, I guess now I know why), until I read the thread on annoyances and thought, "wow, there are actually other people who think like me!" So here I am.

I don't know if this might sound weird, but I'm rather glad about possibly having Asperger's. It allows me to stop focusing why I'm different and start focusing on how. I don't have obsessions, but I do have definite interests. (Incidentally, is psychology in general discussed in the Philosophy and Religion or the Science forum?)

Hi Kiara,

I'm new here too. I really liked your comment "I don't know if this might sound weird, but I'm rather glad about possibly having Asperger's." It doesn't sound weird to me at all. I feel just the same. I am currently being formally diagnosed by a psychologist to find out whether I have Asperger's. I truly hope that I do have it. A positive diagnosis would make so much sense of my past, and would help me to get on with becoming myself. As you say, "It allows me to stop focusing why I'm different and start focusing on how."

Awesome attitude! Thanks for sharing that. It is good to know that, despite our differences compared to those we interact with daily, we really can be "alike" amongst people here. I'm sure we'll both fit right in here. Nice to meet you.
