For me it's strange.

I never felt like I belonged anywhere. I was a social outcast, a misfit, all of that. Most of you here already know that feeling. By the time I was a teenager, I developed the fantasy that I had actually originated on another planet, and that I had committed some horrible crime. My punishment was to be sent here to Earth for torture, until I could remember exactly what it was I had done wrong on my home planet, and make amends.

Now, decades later, there is a possible explanation for those feelings. I am referred to a forum for people that are the same as I highly suspect I am, and it's called Wrong Planet? I, for one, find that hilarious.

My cousin used to tease me about being "lost in space" long before the internet even existed. She also gave me the "seventh dimension" comment quite frequently.

My thought was that my ship had crashed somewhere and I was rescued by the humans. I believed that one day the mothership might come to pick me back up and take me home, because clearly I thought I belonged to a much better civilization.

Whats funny is that my dad, also probably an aspie, still has the same thoughts. I don't know how many times he's told me that he has to be an alien because there's no other way he could be so awesome (yes, he has a huge ego).

I too happened to laugh when I first heard that a name of a website for people like me is called "wrong planet". My immediate thought was "I think this might be the right one", and sure enough I was right.

I used to say that I'm on the wrong planet or that I must be an alien long before I discovered this place or even knew anything about AS. It's kinda nice to know that I'm not the only one who's been sent here by accident or as a punishment

WP is the closest match though!

Maybe once we finally get here we are no longer "Space Cadets"?!

Oh believe me, I have learned to embrace that title. One time I won an essay contest and the prize was a week at space camp. By now, I'm quite literally a "space cadet" in all aspects: literally and figuratively.
