Hello. I'm new to this site.

I don't have any friends, but I'm attractive and talented and sometimes people want to get to know me, but I don't know what to do and it frustrates me. Some of these people have asked if I have Asperger's syndrome. I looked up the symptoms and I fit ninety percent of them to a tee.

I avoid all social situations. I don't make eye contact. I tend to go into monotonous tangents while conversing with others. Sometimes, people tell me that I'm annoying and they cease socializing with me. I prefer routines. I'm always tapping drum beats on surfaces such as desks. I study literature, art, music, and film like my life depends on it. If I order food at a restaurant, and the food isn't prepared a certain way, I send it back. I have unusual sleeping habits - some nights I sleep longer than twelve hours, some nights I sleep less than an hour.

Do you think I have AS? How should I go about getting a proper diagnosis?

Welcome to WrongPlanet

It certainly sounds like AS is a possibility, though I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to offer any help in regards to getting a diagnosis, however someone else may be able to do so.
Hope you enjoy your time here :)

I'm a diagnosed aspie, and if you replace the things I underlined, with "trains, airplanes, and military strategy", you sound just like me. So in that case, yes I think you do.

Replace what I underlined with 'Writing, psychology, symbolism--and knitting at totally random times'. :p

You probly have it. Easy way to find out. go walk into a crowded mall at the peak hour where the most people are. If its unbareably painful then you pretty much know. Over stimulaition is a key symptom. You actually feel pain, vs normal people who just get annoyed. Its like when you haven't tasted anything for a bit, then bite into an orange. The tangyness is so much its like a whisky shot to everyone else.

I once went to a music festival, and the people I was with wanted to get right up near the stage and I followed them. When the crowd started growing, I couldn't breathe, the world closed in on me, I got tunnel vision and eventually passed out.

When I woke up I was in my tent and I was so embarassed, I told my 'friends' that I had too much to drink, even though I wasn't even drinking. I first thought that someone drugged me or that I'm epileptic or something, but Asperger's seems more logical?
