My name's Hillary, I'm 19 and a business law/marketing double major with a sociology minor at Tulane. I was diagnosed when I was six. I was lucky enough to have a psychologist as a mom, who worked really really hard to help me with it growing up. Socialization has always been really awkward for me, I have very bad social anxiety that I've been able to control progressively. At this point, I'm even in a sorority which has been really weird for me because no one at my school knows I have AS. I feel like I don't really have a support system and it's very difficult soooo here I am.
As far as my interests go- Alice in Wonderland is pretty much all consuming for me. This and serial killers and forensic science. One of the hardest things has been not expressing my interests in these topics to people around me... not knowing when it's appropriate, etc but of course that's normal.

Anyway, I just thought this would be a good place for me to communicate with people like me maybe? I've never met anyone else with AS. And I've been able to get through most of my life with people assuming i'm a neurotypical. It's been kind of hard and I want to let my guard down a little.

Concerning your interest with Alice in Wonderland: Is it mostly focused on the books or films or both]?

Both! Specifically the 1951 film version but I lean more toward the books than the film. I have 27 different copies of the books (safely in hiding) haha.

What are your favorite copies! Any rare ones? I kinda collect books and love getting hard-to-find copies.

My favorite is my first copy that I read when I was little. It's the one I always reread now because it's the most comforting.
I don't have any rare ones really, just ones I've scooped up from antique stores and stuff. I don't really have the money to collect super rare ones. I wish. Someday I really want a first edition but that'll never happen.

Yeah first editions of it cost an obscene amount. I've actually been looking for an edition illustrated by Ralph Steadman--he was the illustrator for Hunter S. Thompson--crazy crazy drawings. But I've been too cheap to throw down the money for the copies I've found.

The coolest edition I've seen was one illustrated by Salvador Dali--unfortunately I wasn't able to flip through it.
