I'm new to WP, and I joined because I'm unsure whether I have Asperger's Syndrome or not. I want to see if I'm like some people diagnosed with it; I have many symptoms yet am not diagnosed. So I hope maybe I can get to know others and fit in. Is there anything I should know before I start posting on other fourms?
Hi and Welcome to Wrongplanet. My name is Dawn and I have Asperger's Syndrome. What are your symptoms of Asperger's? Have you thought about going to get tested for Asperger's? I was 12 when I was diagnosed with Asperger's.
Thanks. Nice to meet you. I have gone to counselors to see if I had social anxiety, and I did. They ruled out Asperger's because I understood sarcasm, which is to me, just joking about something that isn't true. My (many) symptoms are as following:
-High sensory issues such as bright lights, too much noise, or even an ant on my foot irritates me
-If clothes are too baggy or loose, it bothers me
-I refuse to do anything girly (ex. wear pink, wear dresses/skirts, go shopping, wear makeup, hang out with girls)
-I space out alot, and don't respond sometimes
-I hide in my room because it's quiet and there's nobody to bother me
-Large crowds scare me
-Counselors say I have learning disabilities, refuse to tell me which
-I'm creative in my own way
-It's hard to communicate unless it's written down and I can read it
-I teach things to myself, others explain it differently
-Interested on one thing and have no intentions on doing anything else
-Sensitive to everything, physically and emotionally
-Have social anxiety
-Depressed for long amounts of time
-Sing, tap legs, or fidget uncontrollably when nervous
-Freak out over stupid things, like someone staring at me
-Needs everything to be in control and right
-Rarely makes eye contact
-Appears to be unfriendly, cold-natured, etc.
-Won't shut up when talking about interests
-Won't contact others outside of school
That's all I notice, anyway.
