I am a 20 year old female college student. I was diagnosed with AS when I was 16 years old. When I was growing up I had plenty of friends, so I never thought anything about me was different. It wasn't until we moved and three years later I still had no friend that I began to get frustrated. When I was little I was obsessed with books. And I still am. Currently I have about 350 books in my own personal library. I would spend hours after school in the library, touching the books, smelling the books, etc. No, it never occured to me that that was strange. I also talked to spiders and hid them in jars in my room. No, it never occured to me that that was strange either. Actually, I thought that other people were strange.
I am going back to college in the fall and plan to major in Acting and Creative Writing. Writing is my forte and I sometimes tend to be a bit verbose, but I will try to keep my posts as short and to the point as possible as I also tend to ramble. I have also come to notice that at 20 years of age I tend to have a poor verbal filter. This tends to come out in my writing. I am telling you this because I often tend to speak/write before I think, so if I say something that offends you please understand that chances are I don't understand that what I am saying is bad. Actually I am a very nice, caring, sensitive person and don't want anybody to be angry as it makes me sad. I am hoping that people here will understand as I am told this is common with AS.
I also have ADD, OCD, anxiety, and am being tested for Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, Epilepsy, and plan on being tested for Hypotonia soon. Alright, I'm done, but if you have any questions please ask!

Hey, You are living my dream by getting a major in acting and creative writing ! I would love to do that when i get into college. Im on the speech team as a dramatic interper, which means we must memorize a 10 minute cutting of a book or play and perform it as dramatically as possible in front of 1-3 judges, in 3 rounds against 5 other competitors from different schools, ive won a third and fourth place last yr and made it to finals twice this yr. I love creative writing and i write a lot of poetry as well, and i love reading other peoples work so if youve written anything lately feel free to post it up and ill definitely read it. i speak and write before i think as well and sometimes it does offend people, but i feel strongly about my opinions and i never care if they offend people lol, although i do try to be understanding and compassionate to others as much as i can. I cant tell you how helpful this website is and how helpful the people are on here. . And if you ever need help or have questions feel free to PM me at any time, im not sure if im always the best one to ask but i always offer lol.

Dramatic interpreter sounds pretty...well dramatic! I have never heard of that before, but it sounds pretty cool. You are pretty opposite me in that if I offend someone it upsets me greatly because I don't want people to hate me. I tend to be overly sensitive, to the point of assuming people don't like me. I read too much into things as well. I just hate that people judge me and think less of me because of one thing I said that wasn't mean to be offensive. There are times where I will stop talking altogether.
