Newly diagnosed - lifelong Aspie

Hello, my name is SilentOwlScribe and I am really new to WrongPlanet. I am quite nervous to venture into this new community of like-minded individuals who I am hoping to get to know. I have always had Asperger's since I was about three years old. At the time, the Dr. simply stated that I had Autistic-like symptoms. Recently though, I was diagnosed by my therapist (seeing the therapist for my depression...and past issues) as having Asperger's. For the longest time, I have had a difficult time in life of figuring out who I am. I have always thought that I was an Aspie but never had anyone or anything in my life that I could depend upon to help me discover who I am. To finally Know who I am for the first time in my life...to really know...it has opened my eyes for the first time to a different world in a way.

Yet, I am more than an Aspie. I also have ADHD (inattentive type) and severe depression as well. I am changing who I am...again. This time though, I finally know who I am. It does not ease the anxiety that I have about changes...even though I am surrounded here by like-minded people, I feel alone. So I hope that everyone will welcome me to the community. It will sure help me out. Thanks.

Even just reading other newbies' posts I feel like I've found a wonderful place.

I was only recently diagnosed with Asperger's after 19 years of being different from my peers.

You needn't be nervous here, as however "odd" you might think that other people have regarded you in life, you'll find other folks in a similar situation here. People on this forum aren't here to judge, but to learn more about themselves and others on this journey we call life.
