not sure if I have aspergeers

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and am not even sure if I am meant to be here as I've not been diagnosed with aspergers.

I've been thinking about my past experencies a lot recently and have suffered from severe bouts of depression.

I have always had trouble 'fitting' in at school, college and university and this has continued in the work envirnment as well. I always feel the need to change my personality- to try and blend in for fear of being socially rejected. This has lead to all sorts of confusion and trouble because I've often lied about myslef to be 'normal'.

Does anyone recognise this form of behaviuor?

Welcome. I'll just say that whether you have AS or not, many of the coping mechanisms and approaches used by those with AS might be helpful to you.

If you're really concerned about a diagnosis, depending on where you live, you may be able to find inexpensive help. Where I live (near UCLA), there's an extensive network of psychotherapy training institutions with doctoral candidates seeing patients under the supervision of University advisers. See if a nearby University has such a program.
