Hello peoples. I have come here in hopes of finding a place to get feedback from those on the spectrum and their loved ones. I have a son who was diagnosed at just over 4 with PDD-NOS.

I am quite bitter because I noticed problems at around 2 years old and was told to wait till he was 3 for assessments. Well, it takes about 18 months to go through the whole process and I lost lots of valuable time. Here we get 22k per year for related services from the government up until age 6. This allowed me 12 hours per week of ABA therapy. After he turned 6, that funding went down to 6k/year assuming the school system picks up the slack. Yah right!

I am very fortunate in that the time he did have in ABA therapy was fabulous. He really enjoyed it and his language and social skills have advanced leaps and bounds. He just finished kindergarten and had a very successful year. He had his therapy in the mornings and kindergarten in the afternoons.

I must say that it is refreshing and inspiring reading some of the posts of the youngster and adults on the spectrum. Gives me lots of insight.

Welcome! And Good luck with your son! I was diagnosed with PDD-NOS around my toddler years as well, and this is a very helpful site for those on the Spectrum!

Formerly Bujuessa..

I've created a new account due to posts being public and google-able. My old name has been used for a LONG time and is too easy a way to stalk me.
