Hello, I am a new member on this site.
I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome at age 27 in 2007. I am 32 today.
Some time prior to my diagnosis, I had a job as a file clerk. I soon lost that job, though, because of behavioral and social problems. I did not learn the social skills in my youth, because of the Asperger's Sydrome. Thus, I did not develop the social skills needed to keep a full time job.
After my diagnosis, my parents sent me to a special school in Florida that helps young adults with Asperger's Syndrome how to cope with their condition. I went there from 2007 to 2010. My social skills and behavior have improved greatly since going there.,
I am now residing in Washington State, the place where I was born (I have spent my adolescence in Kansas). I am currently living with my parents and searching for employment with the help of a job developer.
I tend to have a negative perspective on Asperger's Syndrome. I believe that I lost a job, which could have meant independence from my parents for me, because of that condition.
Thank you.
