I've posted several times on this site, and never properly introduced myself.

My name is Malik, and I'm a currently a college student (hopefully continuing) in Georgia (U.S.)
I've been diagnosed with PDD-NOS and OSA, wonder if I need to get official diagnoses of my strong OCD and ADHD tendencies, or are they tied in with ASDs to begin with? I can identify with a lot of issues with Aspies, even considering myself one for a short time. Now, I don't think that I am.

I hope to learn from others, and possibly having people do the same for me. I plan to either be a researcher of autism, or be a PT to help autistic people with their motor skills. It's my new obsession :wink:

I was diagnosed with ADHD first, myself. Current view is that I have AS and that my problems with attention stem from over-stimulation (light, sound, people and the social confusion). This might be true for you too?

Malik means peace, right? I hope you'll find a way to fit your eccentricities into your life without/before endangering your education and passions and that you'll achieve just that: peace.

Thanks. I've looked up my name before, and just recently when I saw this, and it's means 'king' or ruler, in several cultures (Arabic, African and Hebrew). The name is related to Malachi which is Hebrew, along with Malak (Arabic), which means angel. That's the closest I found to relating my name to peace. Once again, thanks, and I do hope I do find a way to fit my eccentricities with my life, instead of trying to mask them so much...

Thanks! Couldn't get an Airedale in there, so I settled for this (which isn't bad; either). Love Terriers!

Hello, welcome to WP!

About the OCD and ADHD - I'm not sure? It can't hurt to ask a professional about it, though. But I think it's pretty easy to mistake the love for routines and repetitive tendencies for OCD in ASDs.

I remember when I just couldn't accept I had AS (I don't know why - I didn't want to be odd or different ALL my life), and at that point I was pretty sure I had OCD and Social Anxiety to 'explain away' my AS symptoms in a way that meant they were curable.
