Amazing title isn't it?

I know I have a couple of posts here already but I forgot to go to this section first. I am a college student who was diagnosed with AS when I became 12. I had a real bad start in middle school and high school but now I am having a pretty comfortable life with a girlfriend, a sister who just got out of medical school (family practice) and I got plenty of new friends now.

The reason why I wanted to join this sight is because I was wanting to do a career where I worked with people with AS and help make their lives better. Growing up I was really sensitive to a lot of stuff and I had terrible eye contact, but over time I'm at the point where psychologists have a hard time believing I have AS and one even thought of downgrading it. Right now I am either considering psychiatry or neurology as a career because I want to see what makes an AS mind tick and to figure out if there is medication that is good or bad for people with AS. My parents were in the military and I have had over two dozen doctors and I almost hated going every time because I was pretty much a guinea pig when it came to medication. I once had a paradoxal effect to some medication and it made me feel like I had a mosquito bite over every inch of my body. I'm still a ways away from it, but I like to plan ahead.

Anyways I will probably be on this website every day to read as much as I can about AS, especially if I am going to be studying it the rest of my life. Pleasure to meet you guys and I hope I am not a pain!

It is so nice for me, as a parent, to read your story. I'm glad things are going better for you, and really impressed you are going to use your experience and your skills to help others! Good on you!
