I would like to meet aspies in Greece, Thessaloniki. I live in Thessaloniki which is the 2nd largest city of Greece with maybe 1.5 million inhabitants in the surrounding area.
I know most aspies are in Athens and I think they are pretty organised there, but I'm not much of a traveler. Actually traveling is not my thing at all.
I know another aspie here in Thessaloniki which is my "best friend"(also dislikes travelling which makes her sick). I am very selective when it comes to getting friends, the reason I don't have friends, but that's my choice. I don't exclude all NT's but most of them, and the ones I've met and liked don't consider themselves very 'nt', and most important don't nag me to become like them.(I think I avoid those that do that)
Still when I know that the other person considers themselves aspie(for example 'self-diagnosed') or I know that they are diagnosed just like me(I was in 2003) then my interest becomes greater. Then I feel 'ok this might not be a person that fits my character but why not give this meeting a chance?'. In 'nt groups' I am 'not social'. In aspie groups I am 'more social'.
By posting this thread I do not expect to find aspies now. Anyone interested now, or years after will know my intention because if I didn't post anything then none could know what I want.
Note: As a note I canceled one meeting with a self-diagnosed person in Thessaloniki which I think went by the nickname "AceXX", told me that we shouldn't chat much before the meeting "because we would each ramble about our own interests boring the other person"(no, I don't think so. Interests may change). I canceled because the person wanted me to meet at Kamara and I wanted at Aristotelous which resulted in no meeting. I don't like Kamara very much. Lots of noise there, and too much social activities.(too many cafe's and "noisy nt's" for me). It was late evening and I think I would prefer it being day, both because in the day I can see better(makes me feel safer) and also the cafe's are not shock full with "noisy nts" that make my ears and head hurt.
Looking forward to meet more aspies in my local area whenever the opportunity arises (whenever it is, even 10 years from now is better than nothing)
Note: Would this topic fit more in the "General Autism Discussion" forum subcategory?
