I have been looking around this site before I decided to join, mostly due to shyness and I was a bit hesitant at first.

But here I am.
I am AngelofDreams, but you guys can call me AoD. I'm a 22 year old female from Sweden, diagnosed with Autism at the age of 3, and it has pretty much made my life a living hell.
I have severe social issues, but I've not much problems socializing online, so I hope I will get to know some of you guys a little better.

Welcome AoD ! ! I recently joined myself. I know what you mean about being more social online! The internet really helps me! I also love art mostly portrait drawing. My son who is 16 loves to draw Manga but I have never tried. Hope you find what you are looking for here on WP. The site has been helpful for me so far.

And yes, online is easier to socialize with people through. At least one doesn't have to be ashamed for being different most of the time.
That sounds like fun, I like art as well! I am trying to draw manga myself, but it's a bit more difficult than I thought.

Welcome to WP, you two! I'm new here as well, and I will agree that socializing online is much, much easier than socializing in person. How long have you guys been considering joining? I first discovered WP a couple of years ago, but I only just recently got around to creating my own account.

i had the opportunity to hear Alex speak and learned of the website recently. it has been a great resource for me so far and it's nice to hear from non-judgemental people.

@Astraea: Hello there! I had considered joining WP since 2 days ago, actually. I have seen this site before when researching about the disabilities of the spectrum before, but I hadn't been planning to join.

@pescadore: I agree with you. As far as I can see, this site provides some relief for those struggling to live as a different person.

Sweden eh? I've been there for very brief visits twice.

I couldn't agree more, it's been so refreshing to hear from people who aren't going to judge me for my apparent inability to sustain a conversation. I understand that conversations are dependent on two (or more) people, but mine always seem to end in awkward silence...

I see that you're from the UK. I have wanted to visit there a few times, but it never happened.

@Astraea: You're not alone about this conversation issue in real life. I can't have a 'normal' eye contact with people, even if I try. And the awkward silences are truly awkward.

I visited Malmö and thought it was a drab, grey dump. Helsingborg was slightly better. I really would like to visit Stockholm and Gothenburg as I gather they're much nicer?

You should come. And don't just go to London and the South-East - come and visit the north!

Stockholm is really big. It's the capital of Sweden, after all. I've been there a few times, and there's a lot to do.
I'm from a place called Västmanland. It's north-west of Södermanland (where half of Stockholm is).


Maybe I will someday. I won't go alone, though, so we'll see if I'll be able to visit the UK with whoever wants to accompany me.
