Hi, I'm ChangelingGirl and I'm returning for the second time. I was a member back in 2007 and again in 2009. I am 25-years-old, autistic and blind, and live in an psychiatirc institution. I am hesitant to say this, because I know this board is mostly for the "higher-functioning" among autistics, and, while I classify as such per IQ, I don't per independence level. Frankly, I don't believe in functioning levels. Oh, I am also blind and this doesn't explain my lack of independence according to the blind community. I also have several mental illnesses.

My hobbyes are surfing the Internet, writing and walking. I hoped that I could go to a workhome for autistics in a few weeks, but there is too little support there for me, so I'm stuck at my current ward for now.

I'm curious as to how a blind person would surf the net. I don't mean that disrespectfully, I'm just not too keen on how blind people do things.

I use a braille display, with software that translates the text from the screen into braille.

That's neat I was thinking a screen reader instead.
