Hello from the UK,

I'm a self-diagnosed Aspie, waiting for assessment. Mid 40s female, with an atypical NT partner.

Been enjoying the forums and finding WP very useful.

Thanks for all the posts, and this website.

I wrote a much longer post - then edited it all out ! !! !!

I need help with my self-disclosure skills !

So are you calling with Klaatu's version, or the one by the Carpenters? :D

Why did you decide to get assessed, if I may ask?

You know I'll go for Klaatu's version!
:alien:
Why get assessed ?

I got assessed for learning disabilities recently - and I found out that I have dyslexia.
So if that has been missed - ( I've been a student for years .....can't stop studying even now I'm at it again in my 40s for the fourth time !) maybe AS has been missed too.

I avoided getting assessed or considering this possibility seriously, despite getting really high scores years ago taking online aspie tests. I discussed it with friends and colleagues that work in health care at the time, and they were adamant that I was a bit odd but couldn't be an Aspie. I realise now, I was very naive and they know little about the subject.

If I get a dx of AS, I can only see the positives. So far the dx of dyslexia has improved my life so much, as I am getting at last the academic support I've always needed.....so maybe AS will do this as well. It already explains to me why I've struggled to live an NT life.

thanks for your question and reply - I hope this makes sense,
shubunkin
