I've been lurking for a while and thought it was about time I joined the conversation! I'm 24 years old and live in Knoxville, TN. I first realized that I probably have Asperger's about 3 years ago, and now I would like to see about getting an official diagnosis. If anyone else is in the Knoxville area, I would really appreciate your advice/recommendations. I've been trying to sift through the psychologists here to find any who specialize in ASD but I haven't called anyone yet, and I'm very nervous about it! Any suggestions would be super awesome.

Well, if anyone's interested, I think I've found a good psychologist. She specializes in psychological and neuropsychological evaluation and has experience with autism spectrum disorders in all ages. I have an appointment for next Friday. I might post some questions in a different section of the forum...

Sorry for the late reply, but I just saw your post. I am 35 and I have been living in Knoxville, TN since January 2005.

I first suspected that I have ADD in 1996 and Asperger's along with Sensory Integration Disorder (now known as Sensory Processing Disorder) and Prosopagnosia (A.K.A. Face Blindness) in 1998. I received an official diagnosis for ADD and Asperger's on 10/11/11. The name Dr. Kathleen Sales was given to me by older brother who got the name from a friend, but I learned that she only does treatment, so I received my diagnosises from Dr. Walker at the Center For Family Psychiatry.

Thanks Lila! The person I'm going to see is Dr.Susan Koller at the Behavioral Medicine Institute. If I need to find anyone else I'll definitely keep your suggestion in mind. I suspect that I have sensory processing disorder too.
