Intro: Im a 19 turning 20 year old college student who suspects he has AS. Trying to keep this short, but basically Im just in a dilemma here and don't know whether to ask my family for help, tell my friends, pursue a diagnosis on my own, etc... so I just wanted to get a few quick opinions first.

I was researching IBS/Celiac Disease when I found this page (can post link). Before that I had never heard of AS, but was only looking to diagnose myself online for some digestive problems I've been having for about a year and half. I've been to the doctor about 3 times in the past year, they've ran countless tests but never found anything. The doctor suspected it was IBS but wanted me to swallow a camera next... needless to say I haven't been back there. That's when I came across the above page and started reading about AS. It literally felt like someone had written a book on my life the way it described me so perfectly. Now I always fiddled with the idea there was something biologically different with me, but just tossed it out as narcissistic thinking. (These are problems everyone has to deal with, who are YOU to think you have it harder than them type of thing) But after a short time learning about AS, I was pretty sure I had it. I took all 3-4 quizzes I found online and scored as probable/possible on all of them. However, there were a few things it described that were kinda red flags and I wanted to get some opinions on wether these would be "disqualifiers" per se.

Coordination/Motor Skills:
Poor coordination and motor skills seem to be constant among AS, but this is something that doesn't really apply to me. Not to toot my own horn, but I would consider myself an above average athlete and was always one of the best in my grade. I played soccer/baseball growing up and only baseball from about age 11-12 on. (I became obsessed with stats, lineups, stuff like that, and only wanted to play baseball) At my high school I was on the varsity team as a Freshman and was 2nd team all state my Senior year. One site I read said "changes in speed and hand-eye coordination such as handwriting or playing baseball become nightmares for many Aspies." Well, they got the handwriting part right but that statement was sort of red flag to me. So I would consider my coordination to be above average, however the motor skills part is right on. When it comes to doing small things with your hands ie. tying a fishing hook you can forget about it, and i've never been able to play a musical instrument in my life. People have always made fun of my awkward walk, I can reach the bottom of my knee when I try to touch my toes, and I have the worst balance out of anyone I know. (Can barely ride a skateboard, constantly bumping into walls, etc.) Would this be consistent with AS? or no?

Also, happy to be here... its great that forums like this exist for problems exactly like this. :D

Don't let the motor and coordination skills part confuse you. I've been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome since I was three, and I have no trouble with motor skills and coordination. I know plenty of higher functioning people with Asperger's Syndrome who have no trouble with that type of thing.

I do sympathize with you on the not being able to reach your toes part, though.
