Hello all.

My name is Peter, I am 29 years old and I live in London,UK.

I have been told by a friend of a friend who deals with autistic children professionally that I probably have AS. As a result I have done some reading around the subject and filled in some online tests. I scored 41 on this AQ test: http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/9.12/aqtest.html

I realise I shouldn't take such things too seriously, but it would explain a lot of things in my life. Everythhing I have read seems to fit. I feel I need some kind of feedback from people who know what they are talking about. I worry that I may be latching on to AS as an excuse to explain away my failings.

I do not feel comfortable talking to a GP as I am sure they will just say I am being melodramatic and just wasting their time.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you all for your time.

Unless you've done something wrong that you're not telling us, you're not a fraud.

You have just as much right to live and enjoy live as any human being has - AS or not.

They got this system with different animals based on how many times you've posted.

Saying that you're a fraud is like saying that you're a hypocrite. If you say you're a fraud, then you're not a fraud. Read what other people have to say, and post anytime you feel like it. If you decide you don't belong, nobody's been hurt.

You might find you like it here. Welcome. A lot of us aren't sure. That's perfectly ok.

Hi Peter. My name is Emily, and I am 11 years old. I have Asperger's myself, but it has improved so much over the years it is hard for people to tell that I have it. The only thing I am working on right now is my behavior. My emotions aren't that bad. Although it is hard to predict how I am going to act. Keep researching the symptoms of AS, and talk to some professional MDs (Medical Doctors). They have to know phychiatric things like a phychiatrist. Anyway, I was diagnosed when I was two, almost three. They are thinking it was my MMR at 18 mo. that had caused the Asperger's. If you want to know more about me, PM me, or email me at [email protected].

Hi Peter, I am 47 and found out about AS only a few months ago. Sometimes I think I am normal and must be a fraud, but then I have a bad day and know that I probably do have AS.

Whether or not, if you know about your traits and work on the ones you don't like and/or weaknesses, you can only improve as a person. :D (even if you are a pommy b@st@rd).
