There are supposedly many people (adults) with aspergers in Seattle. One of the groups I was told about: http://www.meetup.com/Squarepegs/

I have never been, but I've been told that it is supposedly a very good group of people.

Cool thanks for the link.

I may be visiting the Seattle area sometime next spring. Around the Redmond area. I read that Seattle may have a metro train system. I sure hope so. I 5 can be a nightmare.

Commuter train to Redmond is under construction. The I-5 corridor has commuter trains though. From north of the city to the airport in the south. Trains run underground under downtown.

The only link to Seattle from Redmond is the 520 freeway. Traffic on it is really bad. No worries though. There are buses from Redmond to Bellevue (big city no one knows about) and to Seattle.

LMK when/if you are in Redmond and are looking for stuff to do. I know the area well.

I was there last year and I didn't see signs for metro trains at Seattle airport. I know that there is monorail and light rail. Can commuters use the train to let's say go from where they live in Federal Way to somewhere in downtown Seattle? Or how about fans who want to see the Mariners or Seahawks play? Is there a ferry to take them there? Or people can only drive?

The trains don't go to Federal Way. Buses do. There's airport to convention center light rail, and Tacoma > Seattle > Everett commuter train. Two more light rail lines are under construction (downtown to U-district via Capitol Hill, and downtown to Bellevue and Redmond.)

Yes you can take a train from the airport terminal to downtown. It runs on the surface to the stadiums, and there it enters the underground.

Train station is just next to the stadiums. So if you live near the train you can take it to the games.

Bus system is really good too.

There are ferries from Bremerton, Bainbridge island, and West Seattle. Ferry terminal is a few blocks from the stadiums.

Driving in Seattle is pretty bad. Still the city has its own merits. I've lived or visited all over, and I can say with some authority that this is THE place to be if you don't mind two things: bad traffic and gray skies. ;)

Ok there is sounder and light rail and monorail. So for people working in Downtown Seattle say they live in Redmond or Issaquah or Bellevue can they take these trains to get there, or they have to drive? So you can take trains to see the NFL or MLB play? In the DC area we also have 3 different train systems. Metro, VRE and MARC. But VRE and MARC don't run on weekends.

Trains run north-south.

Issaquah, Redmond, Bellevue are East. No trains. Only buses. Light rail is under constuction to the East side. It won't open for several years.

BTW Seattle monorail is just a novelty. It runs for about a mile from downtown to the Space Needle. The trip is one or two minutes.

I have a cousin in Seoul that wants to send his oldest daughter who is 12 to a private school either in Seattle or in the Northern VA area. The advantage of Seattle is that I have 17 relatives who live there, all in the Federal Way area which I know has huge Korean population. Here in Northern VA it's just myself and my parents. Are there any private schools or Catholic schools that are for grades 7-12? Most likely she will live here till she finishes high school. Jenny is her American name and she knows some English so that shouldn't be a problem. I know that some smaller schools don't have ESL, but some do.

There's also a heavily Korean population in the Shoreline area just north of Seattle; parts of Aurora up there have more signs in Korean than in English. I'm the co-founder and organizer of the Seattle Squarepegs by the way, so I of course echo the comment that we're a cool bunch :D . We're well over 200 members at the moment, and have a rotating group of regulars that you'll run into at our monthly meeting/cocktail party.

The traffic and the gray can be real problems, but if you're at all bookish or intellectual, Seattle is a pretty good place to live.

Shoreline has only seen an explosion in the Korean population in the last few years; it was half white, half asian about ten years ago when I lived there. What part of Aurora are you talking about? Near Fred Meyer, or the Transit Center? I'm currently around the Bellevue area. Bellevue is a beautiful city at night.
