Well the psychiatrist is a bit out of touch if he says

I'm already seeing a psychiatrist for anxiety and depression issues, so I brought up the possibility with him. He seemed hesitant to give his opinion on my situation since I am currently in a relationship with an aspie male, and he seems to think that people on the spectrum are not capable of maintaining romantic relationships.
I am aware of plenty of aspies who have long lasting romantic relationships, I have an aspie wife (we have been together for almost ten years). But I would say that within the autsitic community those who deviate from the 'norm' are more visible. I can think of a few aspies who are openly asexual here but I can not name any person I know in the general population who openly states that they are asexual other than a few monks, nuns and catholic clergy who I happen to know.

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.
