Hello,
This week I stubled upon this site and after reading some topics i decided to join in. And wrong planet sounds cool.
Half a year ago I've been diagnosed with ASD to my own disbelief. Why? Well, i've got a friend who's got asperger who acts distinctly different from me and a lot of others. Of course, we're all different, we've all got our own personalities but he seems way more rigid than I do. Even he doesn't believe my diagnosis. Moreover, the psychologist who diagnosed me was rather young and therefore unexperienced but under supervision of a mentor I should add. And.... I´m a psychologist myself, a master of science in social psychology. i've spent years of my life as a social worker with elderly and mentally ret*d (mentally challenged?) and psychiatric patients quite succesfully. But apparently blind to myself.
So here I am, 36 years of life behind me to reexamine and a whole new life ahead of me. Although i'm still not completely convinced, I reluctantly accept my autism as a working hypothesis. This is just the way the cards have been shuffled, it's up to me to play them well.
On the bright side, I can blend in with the NT's which is important to me since they make up the majority of the people, and my friends and future employers and coworkers. They pay taxes too (as I did) so i get wellfare and a decent chance of fighting my depressions. My NT friends think i´m HSP, I'm able (though not always interested) to read minds and body language. I can see, hear and feel things other people would't even notice, or care. I wouldn't want to miss that.

I'm starting to feel at home right here. Although I had no clear cut expectations I'm happilly surpised by sheer sheer difference in opinions and people.
