Anyone from Manchester or the north west on here?

I'm not from Manchester but I'm visiting Salford Quays tomorrow afternoon? I live in a lovely small town near Preston in Lancashire.

Members puddingmouse and bucephalus are from Manchester and I've met them both once. Fine people they are, too.

Seeing as you mention South Yorkshire, Manchester hasn't officially been in Lancashire for 37 years.

Well, Cheshire, about 30 miles from Manchester.

In our eyes over here, Manchester is historically part of Lancashire hence continues to bat for the Red Rose Side!

I spent a few years there back in the fifties, but haven't been back since.
