I'm not really sure if i have Asperger's because truth be told this is actually the first time I heard about the disorder. I was just reading about my favorite show CSI and wants to know if Grissom will be back atleast as a guest on the show. I got a little carried away with the reading and saw that one of his character description is that he has aspergers. i got curious click on the word and voila i'm reading about myself. Socially awkward, lack empathy, clumsy, prone to depression and anxiety etc etc. I was diagnosed with depression years ago and that's all i know. So far the symptoms all fits and the experiences are quite the same. I'll be reading more about Asperger's here and hope to also know this community better. After all these years maybe my questions will finally be answered. I'm not really sure though if I'm happy or sad but i guess i'll know later once i sorted out my feelings.

Welcome.

I found it kind of humiliating at first, then I got used to the idea and embraced it. :)

Yeah, I found out about Asperger's while reading about Albert Einstein. Pretty freaky at first when you find Wikipedia describing you. 8O

Thanks for the welcome. Been reading through the forum and articles about Asperger's. Ofcourse i'm still in doubt and maybe in denial. In wikipedia i only got more than half of the characteristic right. I dont think i have obsession with things. i like DOTA and manga but i still think I'm normal because i see people who are more obsessed than me. then i became gender specific and read the symptoms and descriptions of women with aspergers. it hit all the marks even the gastro intestinal difficulty and the struggle with social aspect of college and the partial degree. my problem though is i live here in the philippines and i dont know yet who to approach so that i could get the right diagnosis. i dont wanna go back to my psychiatrist she's cold as an ice. i also dont want to be labeled but i guess that if i tell people i know that i think i have aspergers their first reaction would be what is that?. I also checked local online community but they focus more on children with autism and the only asperger's group i saw in the philippines is a face book page with 25 likes. i also don't know how to tell my parents even though my mom suspected i'm autistic. she blurted it out that i might be autistic of course i got angry and went to my room who would like to be called autistic by your own parent. thinking about it i dont know if she's just frustrated with my apparent lack of drive (i quit my job and decided to just become a romance writer a very ironic job for someone who's romantic life is virtually zero) and my obvious lack of social skill she even pointed out that i don't have any close friends (like im not aware of it already). I believed she attended a seminar about autism. Shes a teacher and i think its part of their training or something and its autism awareness month that time. i think she's also afraid to know the truth since it can't be cured. Right now she just let me be hoping that i'll somehow get through it without professional help. I wish i could talk to her about it though but I've already put my family through so much already because of my depression. I heard my mom even blamed herself for my depression. I just really don't know how she will take it if i tell her.
