Hello!

New to the forum, so I wanted to get my toes wet here. I've been a confirmed Aspergian for 2 years now. My mother was the first to get diagnosed 4 years ago. Since then myself, my sibling and my husband have also been diagnosed. I highly suspect that my nephew (sister's son) and my father-in-law also have it.

Coming from a family of very different Aspies, I have a lot of experience and insight into what makes us each special and the challenges we can face. I tend to be more of the mimicer-type, so I've paid very close attention to both my family an the NTs of the world.

However, as much as I "know" about AS, I know there is so much more... this is where you come in. I'm interested in gaining more insight and learning everything I can about Asperger's. I've embraced it in my life, but that doesn't mean everyone has. That is the most challenging part for me: the people who dismiss the most fundamental part of who I am. I believe that with knowledge I can better equip myself for those types of situations. And also, hopefully, share my experiences and opinions with you along the way.

hey there, i'm new around here too.

i know what you mean by "knowing" about aspergers, though i guess i don't have quite as many family members to draw experience from. i have a pretty good knowledge of how i am with it, as well as textbook symptoms and definitions, but i really want to be able to know directly from the source (other aspergians!)

oh I *hate* most of the informational books about Aspergers! I like the memoirs and applied life skills books that are written by other aspies, but I find the ones that are written by NTs are borderline offensive! (Tony Attwood is of course the exception- we loves him precious). I wish there was a decent book about aspie-aspie relationships... romantic, friendship, and parent-child dynamics. Every book is geared toward NT-aspie relations. Yeah, that's important and all, but I want to be able to read something that doesn't have NT influence in it. How can *I* be a better communicator with my Aspergian family? What should I look for? What should I ignore/forgive/change? Anyways... Hope you know what I mean.

Does anyone have and suggestions for this type of book(s)? I haven't found any I can pallet yet.
