Hello! My name is Annetta, or as everyone calls me, Annie. I've lurked on this site for about six months now, usually using the forums for advice or information pertaining to my Asperger's Syndrome. I was diagnosed when I was 14 after watching a special on Television with my mother. Everything from my social problems, special skills in one or two areas, and unproductive outlets of anxiety/anger all pointed towards the disorder. I resisted the diagnosis until about a year ago when I decided that my life wasn't going anywhere, and that I would like to do something positive about it. I think I'm smart enough for it, and everyone deserves a happy life. Buuut, it just doesn't happen without a little hard work.

So here are my goals I hope to accomplish:
Start college at Bellevue College, then Cornish, then The University of Washington, and finally an online PHD course.
Begin a career as an Art Restorer.
Learn better social skills, and anxiety and anger management techniques, and empathy.

It's going to be a long journey to get where I want to be, so I've got to start now. I would like to meet fellow Aspies who are where they want to be, are going through the processes of it, and understand what it's like to start out in life a little later than usual.

So!... It's good to meet all of you, and I hope that in time the same can be said of me! :D

Welcome to WP. Hope you have a good time here. :)

I'm not where I'd like to be, but then I'm not exactly sure what I want to do either. However, I think that people can push themselves to do anything, and that they should at least put in an honest effort before ever saying "I can't." So good luck with achieving your goals.

I've seen this site from time to time trying to deal with my Asperger's syndrome. I was diagnosed back in Kindergarten and life has been weird. I figured I would make an account because well quite frankly, I am getting to that point in my life where I need to get out in the world and stop sitting in front of my computer. I want to meet new friends, get into shape, and learn how I can deal with my quirks. I am also terrible when it comes to forums, as I do not reply regularly.

Nice to meet you Tim and Sigbold!

I think we're at very similar cross-roads in our lives, theone. It's very hard to get away from the computer, especially because there's always something interesting on the internet to read! I've recently joined Gold's Gym and am going to work on cardio for a few months until I feel comfortable with strength training. Good luck with your goals as well!

I agree Boxman, there's no point in saying that you can't until you absolutely can't.

With me on the computer I just feel more comfortable, I am an avid gamer and am very hard to beat. I guess you can say that's my obsession. I would love to end up making games someday =). For Christmas I did get a gym membership, but because of work and recently getting horribly sick, I can't really get out to the gym. When I get better I am planning on going at least 3 times a week.

Welcome. Issaquah is just a lovely place!! !! If only so many people didn't move into the area. It makes traffic on Front street a bloody mess. I remember when the hills around Issaquah were just forest. Now they are packed with town houses like sardines in a can. :(

The only games I could ever beat were Yoshi's Story and Pokemon Snap! Even Banjo Kazooie was waaay too complicated for me! I worked at Nintendo as a game tester for a few months over in the Redmond location, but didn't end up keeping the job. It was nice; the people were really cool.
That sucks you got sick, was it some nasty bug that was flying around?

Yeah, I love Issaquah, but it is changing a lot. When I first moved here, there weren't a lot of houses up on the plateau and all the trees were still there. It's almost like a whole different world up there with all the new shops and houses that all look the same, and are so close together they don't even have yards.
I live a little more out in the country, on a nice acre, so it feels more like how Issaquah used to be before everyone moved in. Crossing my fingers it doesn't end up looking like Bellevue, but because they can't build on anymore land, the only way to go is up, up, up!
Nice thing about it is if companies do end up moving in on the land out here maybe they'll give my family a good chunk of money for our home!

Nice to meet you, Anonymous!

I'm jealous. I'd love to work for Nintendo, though more on the creative side of things rather than as a game tester.

I wouldn't be worried about not being able to beat Banjo-Kazooie. Maybe I just stink at platformers, but I had a hard(but fun) time with it. That said, the sequel, Banjo-Tooie, is much more complex.
