Hi I'm new here, my son was diagnosed just over a year ago and if I'm honest it has taken me this long to accept his diagnosis. He is very able and that has made it difficult as so many people told me I'm sure he does not have autism. However, deep down I had know for a long time that he was unique. He had an ADOS carried out on him which confirmed his diagnosis. I often feel a bit lost as to how best to support him so was delighted when i found this forum. I have said so many times to my mum i wish i could understand him more, to get inside his world and know why things that seem so small and insignificant to me really distress my little boy. Anyway that's my story so far. I hope that here i can gain insight and advice to help my little man.

Hi there and welcome. 
My son is 10 now and was diagnosed with Asperger's when he was 7. He also has sensory processing issues. The diagnoses have helped both of us, and getting support and info in real life and here means you can adjust your perspective and understanding of how your child is affected by the world around him.
The parents' forum here is great - a wealth of information and lots of support and a place to share experiences.
