Hello everyone! I've been following this site since October and I have commented on a few post but I haven't as of yet introduced myself.

I am married (NT) and have a 7 year old daughter (NT I think). I am 41 years old and just yesterday I was officially diagnosed. My whole life I knew I was different but I didn’t have a name for my condition until 2-3 years ago when my nephew was diagnosed with Asperger’s and ADHD. I didn’t make the connection immediately as my nephew and I not that much alike (he reminds me more of my younger brother who I also suspect has Asperger’s). It was actually one of the characters in Robert J Sawyer’s WWW Trilogy that caught my attention and started me researching more in to Asperger’s. The more I read the more I related and eventually I concluded that that this was why I am the way I am.

I approached my GP this past November and he flat out stated that I was wrong but agreed to refer me to a Psychiatrist to make me happy. I had my first appointment February 29th and after only two visits the Psychiatrist was confident that I was correct in my self-assessment. He also suspects that I have ADD as well but further appointments are needed to make that determination.

So far I have found wrongplanet.net to be an extremely helpful resource in learning about my condition and I check the site several times a day.

Wow yesterday, when i got diagnosed with pdd-nos it was a huge thing for me but i was 15-16, did it have less of an impact because you researched it already or didn't it have any impact at all? Sorry if i'm being overly curious :o I know its not the same thing probably but i wanted to ask anyway.

Anyway, welcome to WP :D I've only been here 2-3 days :o

Hello there DaBeef2112 and welcome to WP! Hope you like it here!

I spent two weeks in Toronto in 2008, so I know a bit about your city. :)

To be honest I felt relief. I feel better knowing officially why i am the person i am. It certainly helped that I recognized my condition myself and have been gradually accepting it for a couple of years. Had I not had a clue going in i likely would be in shock right now.
