So I have been reading the threads on this forum and the articles put forth by the community for a while. I figured that today I might as well get involved myself.
A bit about myself: I am 18 living in Oshawa, Canada (near Toronto). I am currently an amateur muay thai fighter, mixed martial artist and submission wrestler. I have a Pan American silver medal in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu which I recieved in October 2011. Im planning on making it my career in the future but I have plenty of time and more personal growth before that. I have been single for the past little while which I do not mind in the slightest, however, I have had a few relationships, both good and bad. I contribute to a number of groups of Facebook relating to ASD and Asperger's Syndrome.
About my diagnosis: Diagnosed when I was 13. Initially I was in denial of my diagnosis and rejected any kind of assistance offered to me. I do regret not embracing my diagnosis until I was in my late high school career (around grade 11). However, I think that working with Asperger's on my own was better for me than having someone hold my hand, mainly because I grew to accept the diagnosis and myself at a personal level. I do not suggest this route for everyone mainly because it was alot of trial, and even more error which was pretty hurtful. But I do believe that I became a better person because of it.
Anyways ladies and gentleman, here I am and I hope you all enjoy my company.
