Hi all. I'm Deb, but you can call me Rose around here if it helps.

I'm new to the idea of Asperger's, if not the symptoms. I have a rather convoluted history, but it boils down to being very no-touch as a baby and toddler, having to move in with my paternal grandparents when I was four, abuse in the household due for various reasons, difficulty socializing in school (I went overboard, because it was my only real contact with other kids), moving back in with my mom when I was twelve, marriage/divorce/then ltr with a guy that ended up being a sociopath, and now basically coming back full circle since returning to my hometown.

I was fine as long as I was in school (BA in history and Masters in Lib and Info Science), but after graduating and the upheaval of a return move, I'm at loose ends. I'm employed full time, in an information capacity, so that does help. I've met back up with people that were my friends in middle and high school, which is good in some ways, and bad in others. They're all very relationship-oriented, albeit mainly divorced and/or in disfunctional (or so it seems to me) relationships, like a revolving door. I don't get it, but after being single myself since 2009, I've been trying to at least date on occasion. Not going so well.

Anyway, meeting with a psychiatrist next month who specializes in ASD and Asperger's, so I can see about a formal diagnosis. Apparently, due to a complicated delivery and my mannerisms as a child, my mother had wanted me checked out when I was a toddler. At the time, she couldn't afford it, and my grandparents eventually just swept it under the rug as being hyper, and having a poor attitude toward authority (theirs, as I was an "ideal" student aside from talking too much in class). So I am looking forward to talking to someone that actually knows how to handle this, especially since I think I might have gotten it from my dad (who I didn't live with after the age of one), and that my daughter is showing signs too.

Oh, and I took the quiz again so I could post the results here.
Your Aspie score: 169 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 43 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie
