Hi there everyone. Came across this site while doing some google research so thought I would sign up to interact with more people like myself. Suppose I better give some background, I'm currently 21 and I was diagnosed with Autism when I was 5 years old. Something I've only come to terms with in the past 2 or 3 years and I'm now trying to learn more about it as well try and better myself. It has been tough for me personally as over the years, especially now that I have been out of school for 5 years I've found myself having a smaller circle of friends. I find things like small talk and relating to new people difficult in person, and having no interest in the drinking culture we seem to have in the UK also kills any chance of friendship with pretty much most people my age! Hope that's enough info, but I will happily provide more if need be and I hope to be an active member here :)

Thank you! As far as interests go pretty much the same interests as most guys, gaming, music, movies etc  But a particular interest of mine would probably be computing ever since I got my first PC when I was 10, I enjoy learning about multiple aspects like networking, web development and such :) Also enjoy exercise when I can work up the motivation which can be difficult for me. Staying clear of the alcohol may alienate me to some, but you know somethings wrong in our culture when becoming black out drunk is the "norm" to fit in.

Hi Colinn! Welcome to Wrong Planet! Check out the different forums and articles here. They are interesting and helpful. Among them are forums for computers and electronics, and for gaming. Stick by your guns on the alcohol issue. I am in my 50s and have only had small drinks a few times, just to try different flavors that relatives were serving, or that were being served at halls rented for family functions. This is very rare as I don't attend many family functions, and now that my mother and her siblings are dead, I no longer have to take her to those horribly noisy affairs at rented halls. I also don't care for the "alcohol" taste of alcoholic beverages, so I have yet to try one that was any good. Believe me, you are not missing anything. I have never bought it for my own home use, either, as I really don't like it. I also don't like what it does to people. There are too many drunks on the road as it is.

I hope you like the WP site. I do! :D

The pressure to drink is also prevalent in Denmark unfortunately. Still, I don't drink either.

Thank you for you're detailed reply. Fortunately I also do not have to attend many family functions, last one was a wedding over 2 years ago which was an open bar which made it become a bit of a mess. I enjoy the taste of beer and have a few when I feel its the right occasion , but I never crave it at all. Last time I had any would of been 4 months ago now I believe. Some of my family have had history of alcohol abuse so I've seen first hand myself what it does to people, probably one of the reasons I'm put off by it.

Thank you for you're reply as well. Sad to hear other countries are affected by this culture as well, but well done to you for staying clear! Also you're DP is lovely if you don't mind me saying so :)

I'm sure it's counterbalanced by the neo-prohibitionists though.
