Hello from a distant land known as Alaska!
I'm a newly diagnosed, bona fide Aspie (new enough that my spellcheck underlines "Aspie" in red)!
Let's just say learning about Aspergers has answered sooooo many questions about my life over all these years and my challenges of always "learning the hard way" socially. But it also explains my strengths in business, computers, languages, art, and music! (stay positive!)
I work for a bookstore and read Mozart and the Whale after my diagnosis. Very inspiring considering how difficult it is for me to talk to women. It's sooo reassuring to see such a large community with similar challenges! I am surrounded by the NT world, and supposedly have friends, but I never know how to go out with anybody--friends or dates--or even the slightest idea of the right thing to say! But I will learn.
I'm surprised how few organized activities there are for adult Aspies in a city the size of Anchorage (about 300K)--as business is one of my special interests--I may just have to start something! (or at least volunteer in the AS community!)
At least, no matter the distance, you can count on the Internet! I am truly fortunate to have discovered Wrong Planet and its treasure trove of information, and look forward to gaining so much insight and contributing even more.
