I did a little research...
Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Victoria, Australia)
Quote:
2.2.13. Admission to designated neighbourhood Government school
(1) A child of compulsory school age is entitled to be enrolled at his or her
designated neighbourhood Government school.
Note: Compulsory school age in Victoria is through 17.Quote:
2.2.15. Refusal of admission generally
A person may be refused admission to a Government school-
(a) if the person is not entitled to be enrolled at that school under
section 2.2.13; or
(b) in accordance with any other provision of this Act or any other Act.
I didn't see any other provision that would be relevant. If you're under 18, an open government school in your neighborhood can't refuse you, unless...Quote:
2.2.17. Refusal of admission for safety reasons
(1) A person may be refused admission to or continued enrolment in a
Government school if, in the Minister's opinion, it is advisable to do so to
ensure the safety of the student or other students at the school.
(2) A child of compulsory school age who has been refused admission to or
continued enrolment in a Government school under subsection (1) must, in
accordance with any Order made by the Minister under subsection (3) be given
an opportunity to continue his or her education while he or she is of
compulsory school age.
(3) The Minister may make an Order specifying the means by which a student who
has been refused admission to or continued enrolment in a Government school is
to be given an opportunity to continue his or her education while of
compulsory school age.
So they may refuse to admit you for "safety reasons". But then, they would have to find you another school to go to instead. They can't just send you packing.
Bottom line: Something is not right here.
