Hi everyone! I've actually known about this site for awhile and lurked some but felt very shy about posting. I've had bad luck with forums in the past and even been harassed by people so I didn't know if making an account here was a good idea. I'm going to try though! I'm quite strange and very obsessive. I'm the youngest of two daughters, one is "normal" or NT as you call it here. My dad use to be a science teacher before retiring and my mom was a nurse, I still live with them. I tried going to college but some very bad things happened to me that I don't want to talk about. I am diagnosed with high functioning autism spectrum disorder along with OCD, paranoia and psychosis. I am VERY shy and other people scare me a lot. I hate most loud noises and I hate yelling, I use to cry in school when a teacher would yell. I got picked on because of this and always wanting to stay out of trouble. I've never had a ton of friends, dated less than a handful of people who didn't really care about me, so I'm sort of fed up with relationships. I've never enjoyed them anyway. I always hate it when people make assumptions and say "OH BUT YOU NEED TO BE WITH SOMEONE." etc.
I enjoy lots of things, I really love reading and games! I was lucky because my sister had really cool boyfriends growing up and I was introduced to dos gaming after it was sorta obsolete so I have a very special place in my heart for "classic" oldschool games, like Wing Commander, Privateer and the Might and Magic series. I'm a total dork and LOVE pokemon as well and have played D&D and MTG. I even had a warhammer High Elf army painted that I use to play with. I actually want to get back into the hobby but lack of money sucks right now.
I also like anime, mainly Studio Ghibli stuff and Gundam!
I LOVE music, I have the most bipolar taste ever. One day I'll be listening to progressive rock, then the next day it'll be industrial rock. I'm a big fan of jazz fusion and all kinds of ambient/experimental stuff. Love Boards of Canada, Chic Corea, Brian Eno,Skinny Puppy, King Crimson, Radio Head, the Yellow Magic Orchestra, Genesis, Phish and I could go on and on.
The name comes from my love for sea creatures, extinct, living, or fictional. I also like birds a lot! Other things that interest me are airplanes, helicopters and ships. The happy looking guy in my avatar is a mosasaurus, they were the dominant marine reptile of the final period of the cretaceous era and are believed to be a very close relative to snakes.
Hi Cete,
If you don't like 'Cete' let me know. I am just intimidated by the ammount of letters in PrehistoricCetecean. I have a soft spot in my heart for Trilobites, but don't know why unless it's because they remind me of Rolly-Polly bugs which I have always liked for some reason. Btw, have you heard about the project inwork to clone a Wooly Mammoth? (no joke). I mention it because it really excites my imagination on what else that might be revived so-to-speak. Now Wooly Mammoths only went extinct fairly recently relatively speaking (c. 8000 years), and they have good DNA samples from frozen Mammoths found in the artic regions, but what if the technology improves and they find ways to go back further ? If we can ever get our act together as a human race and restore the environment what a great thing it would be to bring back at least those things we sent into extinqtion. Long lost creatures would be just icing on the cake!
Oh and welcome too !
Hi! Welcome to Wrong Planet.
I love Studio Ghibli, too. What did you think of the Secret World of Arriety? I think my favorite is Ponyo, because it is so simple and sweet. I also really love Princess Mononoke.

After I registered I realized there was a typo in my name, its suppose to be "Cetacean". You can call me 'cete though! Trilobites are awesome, they probably are related in some way..but I think the only direct descendant is the horseshoe crab. And yes I think I did hear about the wolly mammoth project, at least I saw a documentary with people in Russia trying to find intact wolly mammoth corpses.
I dunno about bringing back extinct animals, I would love to see them but I heard there was more oxygen in the atmosphere for bigger creatures to breathe. It would suck to bring back a t-rex, like in Jurassic Park, only for it to have to get put in a giant iron lung

I haven't seen Arriety yet but think it looks great! I love Monoke, Spirited Away and My Next Door Neighbor Totoro.
