Hi,

just joined up. Keen to find out what makes me tick. I work as a Safety Manager for a construction company and spend 4 weeks away from home at a time, mostly in Papua New Guinea these days. At present I am a little unsure if I am Asperger's. The reason for the uncertainty is that I am an INTJ (Myers-Briggs) and INTJs are often muddled with Asperger's. However, no matter what Asperger's testI do, the scores are quite high. So. joining the forum anyway because whether I amor not, there are most likely to be likeminded people in this forum.

Welcome to WP. It is Aspergers not Asperger's.

No worries. It is a common mistake, mainly with Americans who sometimes pronounce it with a 'b' for some reason.

Ty. Well I am South African born so probably go harder on consonants than most. Anyway, here starts a more serious investgation of the possibility that I might be Aspergers. I have very real reasons to believe I am so. I have managed to build a productive and functional life for myself, at least in part by harnessing the aptitudes of Aspergers and in part to overcoming the debilitations of it. This has complicated the diagnosis because I havea full and well rounded life. Its the bits that stick out that leave me wondering; they won't stop sticking out ...

I might have to start a new thread in a more appropriate forum to continue. Nevertheless, my quest is currently to find a reliable way of determining if I am really Aspergers. I could recount all of the reasons for thinking that I am but that won't help. Any advice on a definitive way of knowing? The manifestations in my case are not standard ie questions in tests that are too context-driven don't work for me in many cases.

There are links to some tests on the main General Autism Discussion forum. The RDOS one is quite popular.

On that test you suggested (forum won't let me mention the link) I am 167/200 and neuro-typical score of 52 out of 200 and comment says that "I am very likely to be Aspie".

I will look up the meaning of the test but anyone have any sense of perspective on this? Are those scores realy high or pretty normal for aspies? Aah, theconundrum, wat is normal after all?
