Hi everyone,
I'm new here so felt I should make some kind of introduction.
Well here goes: I'm 32 years old, male and I live in the UK. I struggled at school with dyslexia and attention difficulties (becoming easily distracted by subtle sounds others didn’t even notice). I can be shy, social awkward and sometimes naïve. I have a tendency take things literally and like routine.
I've done exhaustive research into the source of my many and varied problems; I’ve scored rather high on several online tests for autism; I've spoken to other aspies and found I have much in common. It's because of this, I believe I'm also an aspie.
There is of course some danger in self diagnosis and so I may at some point seek something more official. That being said, I do not consider myself 'ill' and am not looking for a 'cure'. I'm happy with me. And feel that being an aspie has at least as many good points as bad.
Anyway, that's enough about me. I hope I haven't rambled on for too long. I look forward to some participating in some interesting discussions. And hopefully making some new friends.

Hi Quickduck, and welcome. I'm 56yo, and I'm in line for a diagnosis, hopefully by spring. It used to be hopefully before Christmas. At any rate, hopefully during my lifetime I will get an official diagnosis. I want that because I want the occupational therapy that would become available. It would be great to stop offending people but I don't know how.

Hi Quickduck and welcome to WP. (do ducks go quick? I thought they went quack ! )

I'm self diagnosed myself after extensive research and at 47 I haven't seen the need for an official dx.In your own case though it might be something worthwhile if you think it would give you additional peace of mind or support.

Hiya Quickduck! Welcome to WP!

Ahh... it's cool to see another aspie who doesn't consider his diagnosis as something negative!
