Welcome Anne,
Your are luckier that me, You found out much earlier in life. I grew up in the 70's and 80's. In this time period, you were mostly just labled "Slow", "ret*d" "Hyper-Active". In 1996, I was (in my opinion) Mis-diagnosed in high school with LD ( Learning Disabled). I always wondered why I was introverted, overly-sensory,mid-blinded, awkward and anti-social etc. I would think..Is this part of LD? It really didn't add up. Thanks to the wonderful tool known as the internet, I was able to research more intensely recently and everything finally fit me perfectly..High-Functioning Asperger.
For now, I am working but I still have "Guys" at work jibe me about how I behave socially. In fact most of my last jobs were the same way. It's just something that can't be "Cured" away. All I can do is cope.
