HI I reciently went through a partly self induced psychosis and got lumped in the scitzo..... bracket. As anyone else with AS had a psychosis

Well... I have had instances where I have heard voices saying my name, and things like that... Also some full-blown paranoia before, but that was induced by drugs... So, sort of.

I think there is an overlap between AS and schizotypal.

i have - very scary. luckily good meds have made that something that no longer happens.

I had a psychotic break while in a campus religious cult. It was not pretty. It was like rapid fire intrusive thoughts of OCD, the mood swings of rapid cycling bipolar disorder coupled with massive sensory halucinations. I became suicidal just trying to find peace from my mind, but mom rescued me and put me in a crisis center for 3 weeks which put me on meds. It took 6 years of adjusting meds outpatient to get it right, but luckily I never experienced that again. I was diagnosed with ASD at 8-9 years old, but developed OCD at 12 and Bipolar type symptoms at 14 and the stress of the cult's mind control techniques caused a psychiatric perfect storm of all three... A catagory 5 Mindcane.

So yes, it is indeed possible for AS folks to "nut up" as my mom says.

I've been through a psychosis. It was a very scary experience for me. I heard abusive female voices and I had thoughts that I would wake up in India, because there was a landmine under the house that was going to blow up and leave a big hole through to the other side of the world from where my family lived.

I also thought that if I used Crest toothpaste that I'd make it to Heaven and if I used Colgate that I would end up in Hell. There are crests of beaches in Heaven and there's a horrible coal gate in Hell.

I also thought that if I ate too much Corn Bran, that I'd turn into a Quaker.

My mum also told me that I'm that Special K for obvious reasons, so I walked into my younger sister's room, peeled of the Kokanee beer sticker that had the Capital K on it, off my sister's dresser and covered my mouth with it. My mum just happened to be looking into the room when I did that. She said, "What are you doing in your sister's room? Put that sticker back where you found it!!"

I was also convinced that first I was going to get better, than I was going to grow a penis.

I´ve had psychotic breakdowns and hallucinations induced by marijuana and robotosin, a cough syrup available in regular pharmacies that contains dxm, a powerful hallicinogenic.

My psychotic breakdowns occur in my every day waking life, usually in the mornings after I wake up. They can reoccur when I´m preparing myself to leave somewhere. Marijuana has helped me calm down, but if overused can be a cause of even further psychosis and visions... I actually enjoy the visions and want to illustrate them after taking a few college courses on illustration.

My breakdowns have sometimes occurred because of a serious doubt of reality - thank-you dxm - philosophical psychosis is the hardest to convey and stop for me, but I´ve realized that although I can´t stop the breakdowns I can sure as hell enjoy them! Haha!
