Hello everybody. I'd like to tell you why I think I have Asperger's. The doctor I was seeing thought I did but I would like your opinion just to make doubly sure. :) (I'll try and keep this short.)

- I find social situations very confusing. I can't read body language or look people in the eye. I'm often told I say inappropriate things without meaning to and I really can't empathize.

-I have obsessive interests (James Bond Movies) and I love my routines which i get very upset about if broken.

-I have one friend and even them I often can't talk to as i find it rather confusing.

-I can't recognize faces or facial expressions very well (I'm hovering my mouse over the smilies to see what they are :))

-I am extremely literal and I stim alot e.g leg shaking or hand flapping.

-I got 185/200 on the AQ test

There are a few more traits but i said i would keep this short and these are my main traits. I'm just checking whether I should pursue a diagnosis or if it is a waste of time

Thanks.

How come talking to your friend is confusing? You speak different languages?

Just a question do my traits suggest AS or am I wasting my time?

I'd appreciate some feedback thanks :)

You're figuring yourself out, so no, you aren't wasting your time, even if you don't have AS.

Try one of the online AS tests, I took one twice, one yesterday and the same today, theres a 10 point difference. I've only done one of the tests though, I think it was only 40 or 50 questions.

With those scores and your traits it does definately sound like As or another form of Autism. If you feel like you are doing OK though, having a diagnosis may not necessarily be necessary, and people can stereotype you with th label. But if you are not doing OK, and think you need professional assistance, then see what the doctors say. Docs are not all perfect, so keep 2nd opinions in mind etc. Main thing is to do what you need to live the most bearable life.
