Hello, my name is Harry and recently I was given a referral for Aspergers syndrome. The medical professional that saw me said I definitely had it, due to stimming and other traits, fixations etc, it's just a case of getting an actual diagnosis. I don't mean to bore you with superfluous information, but I don't want you to feel as though I'm lying to you when I say I have Apsergers without a diagnosis.
If I'm honest I've been very ignorant of Autism and Aspergers throughout my whole life. I stimmed from a very young age, almost as long as I can remember and I have a very good friend who has 'classic' autism. I just assumed it was a brain problem and nothing more than that.
I was very wrong in this regard in terms of Autisms effects and I have since tried to do a lot of reading into Aspergers and Autism. Its odd because, I've gone through my whole life with this condition and just assumed that I was one of a kind; like I had something that differentiated me, like my very own superpower. Reading people's accounts of stimming is crazy to me, I honestly didn't think anyone else did it!
Anyways, hello, I'm Harry and I'm a 'noob'.
