Hey Everyone :D New Fellow Aspie

Well where do I start? I was first diagnosed when I was like 5 years old with adhd and it fluctuated between that and mood disorder then on to Bipolar, now FINALLY I got to the right doctor. She diagnosed me as an aspie and to tell you the truth I was pissed because I was like WELL??? WHAT NOW! WHY COULDNT ANYONE GET THIS EarliER??? but alas it finally fits. After being fired from almost every job I been in for social things and just not fitting in things got a lot better. I had to disclose that I have Aspergers to my boss who actually understood and things went a lot smoother! I now know what jobs I can go into and what jobs I need to avoid because before I was failing miserably. I tried to go into Nursing and really it was a horrible experience that I never wanted to endure again. Now I sit in my cubical at a corporate head quarters filing and working on special side projects which makes me the most happiest person in the world! The only thing that bugs me is that NTs always make the comment about me is that I am one to come into a work place with a gun! I didnt get it at first that it was harassment and a cruel joke but after being fired from acouple of jobs were NTs just were uneasy around me it kinda sank in. NTs were scared of me I did not know why I am not a violent person at all but yet they made these assumptions about me... I guess its because when I get nervous I tend to pace and it helps me figure things out. My therapist told me that when people see this they tend to get scared because it looks menacing almost like a tiger pacing back and forth in a cage. I never thought about it before but i guess I look pretty intense when I pace back and forth thinking of what I need to do next. The next time some one made a "Joke" about this... I went right to my supervisor and reported it! I mean for god sakes.. I needed to nip this in the butt as soon at tried to get off the ground and all the NTs would gang up on me. The person was reprimanded and never bothered me again. Has any one else had this problem?? I mean it just seems so mean but weird how NTs come to these conclusions about me and start to alienate me. I guess they view me as a threat because I finish things on time and ahead of schedule while most NTs are sitting there on their thumbs wasting time. But please some one tell me is this normal of what NTs do? I mean make these violent assumptions of us?

People are naturally scared of what they don't understand. Don't take it personally. They base their assumptions on the post-assault descriptions of a few of the characters who go on psychotic rampages. "Oh, he stuck to himself." or "She was weird." Blah, blah, blah. Just a paintbrush of ignorance.

Welcome to WP. As far as I know, only one person who ever posted here is known to have committed a horrible crime.
