Over five years on this forum, and less than 100 posts. Whoops.
Kinda puts in to perspective how much of a difference five years can make, too.
I joined as an 18 year-old Sixth Form student, not sure of what he wanted to do. All he knew was he loved Formula One and music. Seemed a little sad that he lived the single life but did his best to get on with things.
Now I'm a 23 year old graduate (BSc Hons in Media Production, woo!) working part time as a DJ, volunteering as a radio presenter and doing my absolute best to try and get my foot in to the media industry (which, living in the part of the UK I do, doesn't help one bit as I'm nowhere near any of those kind of companies!). Couldn't care less about my status of being single because I just appreciate everything I have in life.
I was helped through three years of University by an awesome support group who gave me all the advice and pushing I needed to get my work done, or someone to talk to, whilst I was there. They were there to help me in finishing University and giving me all I needed to go in to this big ol' World to do what I want to do.
Yes, it's not been fruitful yet in the way of full-time paid work, but no one from my school days gave me a chance of ever making it to University because of my Aspergers. Guess what? I did.
I know there's a lot more people on here who find their lives a lot more difficult than I could ever imagine, but honestly: there's nothing stopping you from doing what you want to do. No one thought I'd survive University, and certainly who ever heard of an Aspie radio presenter?
Trust me, if I can still chase after my dreams, anyone can.
