hello everyone!

My name is Alex (Foxx) and I am new here.

I am 27 years old and have been diagnosed with ADHD since I was young. While still undiagnosed, I am pretty sure I am also an aspie, or at least I display many of the signs (symptoms?) and behaviors that are commonly ascribed to such a diagnosis. I am extremely shy in person but tend to flourish online... somehow I find typing far easier than speaking.

I spend an awful lot of my free time online, chatting with people and researching anything and everything I find interesting at the time. In another age, I would likely have been a library nerd - one of those bookworms that buries themselves in copious amounts of data and only comes up for air when absolutely necessary.
I am a furry, as the name would suggest. I find that I am more at ease when I am able to hide behind a costume of some sort, and I find a confidence boost when adorned with a big fluffy tail and fuzzy ears.
Among my interests are theories... conspiracy theories, the electric universe theory, alternative theories... anything that doesn't fit into the mainstream is right up my alley.
I am also an eleectronics nerd with a high degree of mechanical and electronic aptitude. I love to tinker with things- taking them apart, finding out how they work, and then making them better... assuming the item in question doesn't end up broken in the process.
I am not much for idle chitchat, but if you happen to spark my interest on a particular topic, I will talk your ear off in typical ADHD style.

I love to learn, but I hated school with an intense passion, and not just because I was constantly teased for being different as I am sure many here were. While the sciences and maths were able to hold my attention, I did terribly in school due to the complete lack of interest in other subjects, barely squeaking by with the least amount of effort put forth. I never felt a need to do things like homework or prove what I had retained. While I could pass standardized tests in the top 1%, I didn't really see how any of the so-called "facts" that we were being fed mattered at all... To this day, I am deadset against public schools.

thank you much ^-^ it's so nice to find a place where there are people that are going through the same stuff... for so long I thought I was entirely unique, that nobody could possibly understand. While that does have its appeal (I like feeling special), it is also nice to know that while certainly not common, I am nowhere near alone.
