I'm also not certain whether or not I'm an aspie. I know someone online who is diagnosed, but until I met him I'd never even heard of the condition. I know I share alot of the traits; obsessions over interests (is it common to shift interests randomly, like being unable to listen to more than one type of music per week, and then switching to another?), echolalia (I'll often compuslively repeat what someone else says), stims, tendency to walk on my toes, having a hard time making eye contact (which I've been getting scolded for since I was little), and an extreme talent for writing (but awful, almost illegible handwriting)

I also got a score of 149 out of 200 for aspie on the aspie test, but I want to get a professional diagnosis. How does one go about doing that?

If I found out that I'm an aspie, it would explain alot of things I've never understood about myself, and it might help me be more comfortable with who I am. Hopefully I can get diagnosed soon. Until then, I hope you'll welcome me here!

Why do you need some doctor to tell you what you already know?

I figured that AS was much like other syndromes, that one needs an official diagnosis in order to be considered as such.

I agree with you, but there are some good reasons to get a diagnosis. For instance, prescription medicine helps a lot of aspies and a diagnosis is generally required if you're going to take the types of medicines that really help.
