Hej I'm Flo, 27 years old. I may be an Aspie, not diagnosed yet though planning to.
My main interests are music (piano, singing, writing, composing) and learning languages.
Have a good day and/or night !

Greetings from Germany to Sweden and a very belated welcome!

I figured it was time to continue the conversation from the "old-school tastes"-thread, I was reminded of it when I read your post in the "You might be an Aspie if..."-thread, poor consoles.

I'm not sure what I should listen to, is there a composition by Schubert you would recommend? :)

Thank you and pleased to meet you :)
Better belated than never as we say ;)

Indeed the consoles should be treated well, like this...

About Schubert, you can start with the Impromptus, here is my favorite (with the score, in case you wanted to follow). It is THE piece that gave me the will to play the piano seriously, when my teacher came to my grandma's place for the first time and played that as a demo... I was totally fascinated and lost in dreams.

Just two weeks too late.

"Leider ist dieses Video, das Musik von UMG beinhaltet, in Deutschland nicht verfügbar, da die GEMA die Verlagsrechte hieran nicht eingeräumt hat." :x
Again GEMA, now this is the first time I cannot even listen to classic music on YouTube.
They're an annoying organisation, I can't stand them at all, they limit me in so many ways...
I love music, but I cannot use YouTube to discover "new" artists and composers just because they want money, more money and even more money. Almost all videos making use of music without any license are blocked in Germany, search results with blocked videos don't even show up on YouTube. I guess you can imagine how small the list of results is compared to earlier when GEMA didn't make any trouble and everything was available. :?
Exceptions are some live videos and videos by indie artists (thanks goodness), they show up and one can watch them.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion! I'll try to find some other video featuring this composition and will let you know what I think about it. :D

By the way, do you know Hybrid? I'm not sure about the genre, maybe it's something like orchestral electronic music? Sounds like an own genre to me, I can't put it into any category and in stores their albums swap categories on a regular basis, I saw them in the dance category, in electronic and even in pop... how confusing... I guess the guys at the store don't even know the genre themselves. :?
I stumbled upon them rather by incident, some of their songs were used as soundtrack for a game I played, I liked what I heard in the background and that made me curious. I did some research to find the songs and found out its theirs.
I like pretty much every of their songs I've listened to on YouTube (luckily theirs are not blocked) and ordered the album "I Choose Noise" which contains some of the songs that were used in that game. I like their style, I guess I'm going to search for more albums. The one I bought is from 2004 if I recall correctly, a new hard copy costs 60€ and as I'm not interested in in buying a purely digital copy as a download, I searched until I found a cheap CD, second hand, but barely any scratches on jewel case and CD! It arrived today and I listened to it a few times, those are some nice compositions, the transitions between the songs are very smooth and some elements are being reused (example: a part of Dogstar is being reused in Hooligan Spirit), some songs are purely instrumental and some songs contain lyrics. Their vocals appeal to me and I like instrumental music too, so that's a good combination! :D

Those shelves are a neat idea, I think I could really need that - and I wish I had all those consoles, I can even see two versions of the NES and SNES, how awesome! :D
I don't see any Wii though and they could be sorted by category (Sony, Nintendo, Sega shelves for example) and age (left = oldest, right = newest). Don't say those are all yours, if they are, I'll be jealous! :P

Overusage of smilies in this post, I guess this is what could be called "being hyper" (referring to term from that one thread in the General Autism Discussion forums), got something new/interesting and now I'm "hyper" which reflects in the way my posts look like. <- just to add another smiley to this overly long post.

@Sylvastor

Ohhh I'm getting so upset about YT too. Luckily in Sweden we don't suffer too much about those kind of problems but in France a lot of videos are banned. You can most certainly find the piece I recommended you on Dailymotion, Spotify or other... That's just sad about that video on YT because you could read the score at the same time. (though if needed, there is a good website to find free scores). I don't know if you could see the name of the piece, just in case, it is Impromptu Op. 90 n4.

Thanks for making me discover Hybrid, I didn't know at all and I'm positively surprised. I'm very picky about music and I must say that I had what we call in french a "coup de coeur". (can be translated as highlight / crush / favorite)
Their music is really special and original, indeed it is difficult to classify them which is particularly appreciated. I think it was a good guess with orchestral and electronic. I would have said something like orchestral trip hop with some industrial/electro touches (but it's definitely not pop). It's always such a good feeling to discover a project having its own style. I loved the atmosphere created in the pure orchestral tracks and on the vocal tracks, the voice is great. The singers can sing, not like what we are used to hear in the commercial soup category. :D

Personally I've stopped asking myself questions about how they classify the music in stores since I saw a shelf with Sisters of Mercy, Marilyn Manson, Rammstein, Lady Gaga and Britney Spears... thanks God no Beethoven or Debussy among them. :D

Otherwise you don't have to be jealous (about me at least :P), those are not my consoles but I wish...
I don't think I would have sorted them by category but only by age, anyway ! !

Oh I can't remember if I have answered to that "being hyper thread", I have to check that ;)
