Hi, I'm new. I'm a slightly aspie mom with a more strongly aspie 13-year-old daughter. She is happily obsessed with Beyblade, Pokemon and dragons--particularly those from the fiction series "The Dragonriders of Pern." Do any of you share these interests, or are you teen-type girls who can help her understand what Aspie is--and that we are what we are and that we're o.k? 8)

I'm a 33 yr old Aspie mom of an almost 6 yr old son with autism and an almost 4 yr old son possibly with Aspergers. I love Dragonriders of Pern, it's one of my biggest obsessions I've had since I was 14.

I am 32, but have the mind of a teen, absolutely ADORE the Pokemon games and like the cartoons (esp. second movie-just get her to tell you who my avatar is! but do not have Sky so haven't seen much beyond the first episodes. I have seen all the movies up to "Jirachi-Wish Maker" and read all the "Dragonriders of Pern" books up to and including the latest one (I believe it's the second she's co-written ewith her son, Todd) "Dragon's Fire." I also love all of Anne McCaffrey's other srories excluding her historical novels.

Pokemon is my obsession, and dragonriders of Pern is just a past obsession but still a strong interest.

Hope I can be of help?

Hi, I'm a 15-year-old aspie girl. If your daughter likes dragons I suggest that she might also enjoy the Inheritance Trilogy, a book about dragon riders written by an author called Christopher Paolini (who may or may not also be an aspie). The writing is not brilliant, but considering he began the first book when he was 15 it is of generally sound quality. Be warned though, if she does happen to enjoy these books it is not advisable to show her the movie (a movie was recently made for the first book; however that's a rather potent lie - it's nothing like the book).

I also enjoy dragons and such, and have several online aspie friends who also share said interests. Perhaps it would be good for her to join some online forums, such as this one for example?

Pokemon used to be an obsession of mine, but unfortunately I only enjoyed the first two series', so I'm not much help there. If she likes anime, there are several good ones that she may find enjoyable, though this is depending on her areas of interest.

I hope that I may be of more assistance to you in the future.

Sincerely,
Suicune1000
