I'm new to this and I'm excited that there is such a community like this on the internet. Anyway my name is Nicole Damato. I'm 20 years old and I live in Alabama. I have lived with a disability since I was 2 years old. I was first diagnosed with PDD-NOS and OCD. When I was 12, I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. When I was 18 I was diagnosed with BPD. Now I only have Asperger's Syndrome and the OCD and BPD have been filed as misdiagnosis. I have always been right on the edge of so called normalcy. I have my limitations and flaws but I rather draw focus to my strengths. I have always wanted to find more women on the spectrum. It has been hard because they were slower than me and not relatable. I'm so happy that this site is here so maybe I can find more women like me and hopefully in Alabama.
Have a great day y'all!

Welcome to Wrong Planet. I'm a new female here too, but, unfortunately, not from Alabama!

I'm very glad you finally got the right diagnosis. I think that cases like yours, where the person was repeatedly misdiagnosed, are unfortunate, but especially common when it comes to autistic females. I hope that more research is done about the overlaps in symptoms and the different kinds of autistic expression. I imagine there is a ton of overlap in conditions (the brain is such a complicated thing!), as well as many ways each individual expresses symptoms. It's valuable to examine all areas of a person's life.
