Hi all

My name is Bryan. I am almost old, almost bald, almost fat, And almost funny. Whew! that was close. I work at a job that travels several times a week. year around, 24 / 7 / 365. I enjoy playing pool, Having a cool drink, swimming, and most of all messin with the kids.

The kids are my #1 hobby. And I plan to exploit that for all its worth. Soon they will have lives: and I will be boring. Game over. My son it twelve and all boy. He is ADHD, but so am I. We have a lot in common and he is quick to drop the game controller to do stuff with me. I like to listen and he likes to talk. I subscribe to the "Dog Whisperer" school of parenting. Calm assertive energy. He is a good kid and gets into typical kid trouble. And has typical kid issues. He likes to say he is "Twelveteen" He is honor roll.

My daughter Chloe is 10 and Autistic. Very Classic Autistic: arm flapping, no eye contact, head banging, melt downing, ect ect. She is a total blast to be around. A complete "Daddys girl" Her favorite activities are being tickled by me. Dancing with me. And getting kisses from me ;) She absolutely has all of the challenging behavior's you would expect from a energetic 10 year old Autistic girl. She also has none of the superficial motivations that a typical child has. I personally find that refreshing. She is also honor roll

My soon to be Exe. Well I think that says it all about her.

I do and have done my share of research on Autism. I am pretty well read in that regard. I had actually gotten to a point: I had to stop attending Autism events as I know what the experts and professionalism would say before they would say it. I'm not proud of that. I am sad about it. I am a huge fan of reading raw studies rather than reports on studies. And view most mainstream reports of studies with skepticism at best. I want to see the numbers: the methodology: the peer reviews. I have taken all the training I have been offered. Chloe's primary school teacher would notify me of training for teachers and I was able to Audit these at a cost. I also have participated in some of the legal training's offered. Even though I have not needed to use it. Its kinda nice to let everyone know,,,,,,,,,I know whats going on.

I hope to contribute to the threads here. I am sure to learn, more than I can share on this forum. But heck that is why I'm here in the first place.

Bryan

You are not alone... Far too often, the public representation of research doesn't match the actual results...

Too bad pay-walls are everywhere...

Ironically enough it was the Wakefield study that showed me the light. We were bashing the study as irresponsible. And a peer replied with the question asking if we had looked at the actual study. Not reports of the study but the study itself. To which we had not. He hooked us up with the study and original summary. Which has been badly misrepresented. ( topic for another thread IK) After that I only used reports to find studies.
