Hello Wrong Planet family. It's been a while. I've been away, writing a memoir, which isn't focused on Asperger's (which I was recently diagnosed with) but certainly touches on it. And those of us who know Aspies will likely catch on right away (gems are hidden in there for us all!). It's mainly about living in my own little world as a child as my mother worked as a David Bowie impersonator. Yes, she became Bowie, sharing in his wild ways. Whilst I read up on the Encyclopedia on a daily basis and memorized facts about dogs, she was snorting powdery substances and partying with the likes of Alice Cooper. It's interesting at least.
Anywho, I write to thank all of you for sharing your hearts and questions on this forum as you helped me really 'come into my own' after receiving my (relieving) diagnosis. Some of you helped me to see I had a story to tell and now I'm telling it. I'm grateful.
If you're at all interested in reading excerpts, you're welcome to check out my blog at http://brandynightingale.blogspot.com. If you're on Facebook, I have a new page for the book which is titled "Everything's Hunky Dory: A Memoir" (easy to find). If you're not interested - AWESOME! Just know I'm grateful for the conversations some of us have shared in the past and for answers I've received to questions I'd long had, just by your willingness to share opinions and challenges here on this message board.
I'm glad to be back!
Cheers~
